Practitioners and Cosmetic Clinics
welcome to the Cosmeducate Practitioner Page, your go-to destination for the latest updates and reliable information on cosmetic surgery and procedures in Australia. As a professional resource, we're here to help you stay informed and compliant with the Medical Board of Australia's guidelines, effective from 1 July 2023.
Ensuring adherence to these guidelines is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety. Keep in mind that these updated guidelines serve as evidence of appropriate professional conduct and practice in legal proceedings, and that serious or repeated failures to comply may impact your registration.
GP Referrals
- For surgical procedures, a GP referral is required before consultations.
- For non-surgical procedures, a GP consultation is needed only if the medical practitioner performing the initial consultation identifies underlying psychological issues that may render the patient unsuitable for the cosmetic procedure.
Non-surgical cosmetic procedures include cosmetic injectables, fat dissolving injections, thread lifts, CO2 laser skin resurfacing, cryolipolysis (fat freezing), laser hair removal, dermabrasion, chemical peels, cicrosclerotherapy, and hair transplants.
